2.1 Million Vehicles Cross The Trans Sumatra Toll Road During The 2024 Eid Period
JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) noted that more than 2.1 million vehicles crossed the Trans Sumatra Toll Road during the homecoming and backflow of Lebaran 2024.
This figure increased by 75 percent from normal traffic volume (VLL), an increase of 35 percent on an annual basis (yoy).
This achievement is an accumulation of 9 Trans Sumatra toll roads that have been operated and 2 functional sections during April 3 to April 21, 2024.
Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim said, the high number shows the enthusiasm of travelers to make the Trans Sumatra Toll Road a choice of homecoming to their hometowns.
Hutama Karya noted that the peak of the homecoming flow occurred on D-4 Lebaran or on April 6 with a total of 115,064 vehicles passing, while the peak of backflow occurred on D+4 or April 14, 2024 with a total of 163,000 passing vehicles.
"The highest traffic growth is in the Indrapura-Kisaran section of the Indrapura-Five Puluh section with an increase percentage of 129 percent compared to the normal VLL," said Adjib in a written statement, quoted Tuesday, April 23.
Meanwhile, the segment with the highest traffic is the Terbanggi Besar-Kayu Agung section with a total VLL of more than 411,000 vehicles.
"The enthusiasm of toll road users is also seen on the functional section, namely the Indrapura-Kisaran toll road section of Fifty-Kisaran on April 4-21 and Bangkinang-XIII Koto Kampar on April 5-17 with more than 160,000 passing vehicles," he added.
From the service evaluation during the 2024 Lebaran homecoming period, Hutama Karya found that the traffic of vehicles passing after Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri was higher than before Lebaran.
This is estimated because many families have postponed their homecoming and chose to travel after Eid, as evidenced by the high spike in D+1 Lebaran or April 11, 2024, as many as 141,347 vehicles, an increase of 141 percent compared to normal VLLs.

In addition, many toll road users take advantage of this holiday moment to visit tourist or culinary attractions, which can be seen from the high growth on the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road which is a tourist access for toll road users from Medan to the Kisaran area.
"During the Lebaran homecoming moment, we also operated 6 functional rest areas on the Indrapura-Kisaran, Binjai-Langsa and Pekanbaru-Bangkinang toll roads with visitors who are always busy every day. This indicates that the awareness of toll road users to rest when sleepy or tired when driving in order to prioritize safety has begun to form," he added.
