Cak Imin: We Are All Including The Constitutional Court Unable To Stop The Rate Of Weakening Democracy
JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar responded to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which rejected their request in the 2024 presidential election dispute case.
Cak Imin admitted that he was not surprised by the decision against the lawsuit so that the results of the 2024 presidential election would be canceled and the disqualification of candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"This decision is actually not surprising, today's decision confirms that we all, including the Constitutional Court, cannot stop the weakening of democracy in our beloved country," said Cak Imin in a video caption, Monday, April 22.
Cak Imin appreciated the dissent or dissenting opinion of the three Constitutional Court judges who saw that the presidential and vice presidential candidates' lawsuits should have been partially granted, as well as re-voting in areas whose implementation was deemed inconsistent with election principles.
The three judges at the Constitutional Court are Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat.
"They are noble people who are the hope for the establishment of the constitution and the return of the dignity of the Constitutional Court in the future. They will be a beautiful and good record in the history of our nation and state," explained Cak Imin.
However, the General Chairperson of the PKB admitted that he still accepted the Constitutional Court's decision as a final and binding decision.
Anies continued, the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the dispute over the results of today's general election (PHPU) marks that the entire phase of the 2024 presidential election has passed.
"We convey to Pak Prabowo and Pak Gibran that we are happy to carry out the constitutional mandate. Congratulations on working to fulfill the expectations of the people who are now carried on the shoulders of the two of you," said Anies.
