BPS Records Rice Imports To Indonesian Wheat Soared In March 2024
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the import of grains or whole grains rose in March 2024 on a monthly basis of 25.97 percent.
Meanwhile, on an annual basis, the increase reached 144.02 percent.
The cessia commodity in BPS records includes rice, corn, and wheat.
Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the import value in March 2024 was valued at 182.2 million US dollars. The import volume reached 419,100 tons.
Amalia explained that the portion of imports in Indonesia's non-oil and gas reached 6.04 percent in March 2024.
The increasing moderate commodities include rice, wheat and corn, he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Monday, April 22.
Furthermore, Amalia said that for rice commodities, the main import countries were Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
"So the import of rice in March 2024 was approximately up 29.29 percent," he said.

Then, continued Amalia, the main countries of origin for the import of wheat and meslin came from Austarlia, Argentina and Canada.
Meanwhile, the main countries for importing corn are Brazil, Argentina, and the United States.
"Imports of wheat rose by 24.54 percent," he explained.
