Constitutional Court Decision, Cak Imin: We Want In The Future The People Of Jelata Have The Opportunity To Occupy Political Positions

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 1 Muhaimin Iskandar said the decision on the 2024 presidential election dispute which was read out by the Constitutional Court today will have an impact on the future of the nation's politics.

This was conveyed when he was present at the Constitutional Court building ahead of the reading of the decision on the dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election with Anies Baswedan.

"Today whatever the decision of the judges of the consolidation court is the future of our nation's politics, because we want the common people to have the right to hold political positions for their national role," said Cak Imin at the Constitutional Court building, Monday, April 22.

Thus, Cak Imin hopes that the Constitutional Court's decision on the 2024 presidential election dispute today can limit the power of certain parties in determining the victory of the democratic process.

"Therefore, the prayers of the people will be important for the future of ordinary people to be present in politics," said the General Chairperson of the PKB.

Continuing, Anies admitted that he respects whatever the Constitutional Court's decision is. The former governor of DKI Jakarta was reluctant to speculate whether their request was granted or not.

"We respect it. We don't know yet and we don't want to speculate. But we hope that the Constitutional Court will take a role to save our democracy, keep our democratic quality maintained," said Anies.

The panel of judges at the Constitutional Court (MK) began reading the verdict of the 2024 presidential election dispute trial at the trial which was held since 09.00 WIB.

Even though on one trial agenda, the verdict was read out separately according to the case registration number, namely the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, then presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

In the petitum of his petition, both Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud asked the Constitutional Court to cancel the results of the 2024 presidential election and ordered the KPU to re-vote without including Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Then, Anies-Muhaimin has an alternative petition petitum, namely to disqualify Gibran as a vice presidential candidate during the re-voting, so Prabowo must look for another vice presidential candidate.
