Alert, Lightning Rain Almost Equal Nationally Today
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that rainy weather has the potential to flush the majority of regions in Indonesia on Monday today.
Quoted from ANTARA, Based on an official statement on the BMKG website in Jakarta Monday, April 22, BMKG appealed to people in Bengkulu, Jambi, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Banjarmasin to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning during the day.
Then, BMKG estimates that moderate rain will occur in Medan and Yogyakarta, with air temperatures ranging from 23-33 degrees Celsius, and humidity levels between 60-95 percent.
Meanwhile, light rain is expected to occur in many areas in Indonesia, such as Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Tanjung Pinang, Bandarlampung, Serang, Bandung, Palangkaraya, Kendari, Gorontalo, Manado, Mataram, Ambon, Ternate, and Manokwari.
However, BMKG also estimates that some areas will not experience rain, such as Semarang, Denpasar, Mamuju, and Makassar which are expected to be cloudy.
Then, the weather in some areas is expected to be cloudy, such as in Padang, Samarinda, Tarakan, Kupang, and Jayapura.
BMKG reminded the public about the potential for moderate to heavy rain weather accompanied by lightning and strong winds still have the potential to occur in parts of North Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

One of these is influenced by Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) which is observed to be active in Indonesian territory, and then inactive until the end of April 2024.
"MJO is active in relation to the potential for increasing rain clouds in several parts of Indonesia, including the NTB area," said BMKG forecaster Cakra Mahasurya, Climatology Station.
