Only Offering Hybrid Variants To The Latest Camry, Toyota Reveals The Reason

Toyota has announced the price of the latest generation Camry for the United States (US) market. Just like before, this car will fill the premium sedan segment as well as a competitor to Honda Accord.

For the ninth generation, the manufacturer only sells versions of hybrid machines. However, this company from Japan has certain reasons why this iconic model is only available in electrification.

Camry Chief Engineer Mark DeJongh, said that this model fits the latest Toyota Hybrid System 5 (THS 5) technology very well as believes that customers will accept it because it has excellent fuel efficiency capabilities.

"The fuel savings is very good, and we know that with the new Toyota Hybrid System 5, we really have the opportunity to perfect the drivetrain and take it to the best level," DeJongh said as quoted by Motor1, Saturday, April 20.

DeJongh added that his party had tried its best by bringing a number of updates to this model so that Camry would become a leading model in its class.

"As an engineer, or someone who develops a car, you want to do something fun and extraordinary, but we carry the motto 'Sedan to the Core'. We follow what Camry is and make it much better," added DeJongh.

This car carries the latest design with the front that resembles a model like Prius and Crown with the bumper, side and back more futuristic and firm parts. These sedans are offered in four trims, namely LE, SE, XLE, and XSE.

Entering the cabin, Camry dashboard has undergone a slight change and looks more luxurious. There are two choices of seat colors, namely red and black. The 7-inch digital cluster is the standard in the SE model, while the 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster is in the XSE class.

In terms of features, Camry is equipped with a more sophisticated Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0 technology as a standard, covering several functions such as Pre-Collition System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Protective Driving Assist.

The advanced feature available in this iconic sedan is the presence of an Electronic Controlled Braking (ECB) system that can help control and braking better.

Meanwhile, the latest generation of Camry is equipped with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder machine combined with an eCVT transmission THS 5 technology that can intelligently make fine dental movements and is fuel efficient.

To move the front wheel (FWD), Toyota Camry can pump up to 225 dk of power. Meanwhile, the driving type of all wheels (AWD) has a larger power of up to 232 dk.

One of the largest companies in the world has set prices on Camry starting from 28,400 US dollars (around Rp462.1 million) for the initial version of LE FWD to the highest XSE AWD for 36,125 US dollars (equivalent to Rp587.9 million).
