The Distribution Of Drugs Entering Indonesia Is Dominated By Using Sea Routes
JAKARTA - Sea lanes are still the prima donna of criminals smuggling drugs because many areas are under surveillance by officers.
This was stated by Deputy Director of Drug Crimes Kombes Pol Arie Ardian in Jakarta, Thursday, April 18.
"It should be noted that illegal sea routes are still the prima donna of illegal drug distribution because Indonesia's geographical location is many coasts that have the potential to be unknown to officers," he said.
In mid-March 2024, the Directorate of Drug Crimes together with the Directorate of Customs thwarted the smuggling of 19 kilograms (kg) and arrested six suspects, one of whom was a DPO.
Investigators thwarted drug smuggling using the boat to ship mode (between ships by ship) of the Malaysia-Aceh network.
Disclosure began with information obtained about the shipment of methamphetamine from Malaysia to Aceh.
Based on the report, investigators. together with the Directorate of Customs and Excise carried out mapping at sea until they were finally able to catch a 19 kg shabu smuggler.
The two suspects who took from the network in Malaysia then entered Indonesian waters, approximately 7 miles from the coast, from Idi Rayeuk Regency, Aceh.
"Furthermore, two suspects were arrested who would take methamphetamine from Km 7, 7 miles from the Aceh waters," he said.
A total of four couriers were arrested. Investigators carried out developments and succeeded in arresting one controller on land.
