Donald Trump's YouTube Account Can Be Opened Again, These Are The Conditions
JAKARTA - YouTube plans to reopen Donald Trump's blocked account. The blocking took place on January 13, as a result of his video upload containing incitement to violence. A number of social media also apply the same policy.
Not long ago, YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki revealed that the blocking of Trump's account could be terminated.
"We will lift the suspension of Donald Trump's channel when we determine that the risk of violence has decreased," said Wojcicki, Friday, March 5.
He also added that the blocking lasted for almost 2 months. YouTube itself considers that Trump's account still has the potential to cause riots when he posts content on his YouTube channel. Until now, YouTube still sees this potential.
"Given the warning from the Capitol Police yesterday about a potential attack today, I think it is quite clear that the increased risk of violence remains," Wojcicki said.
The YouTube CEO said a number of factors his company used to determine whether video content was at risk of inciting violence or had decreased. It also considers warnings from the government and law enforcement agencies.
YouTube will restore a blocked Trump account when the risk of violence it causes has decreased. The rest, the account must still comply with YouTube's rules.
Wojcicki revealed that Trump will be warned with a second or third warning if he still posts content that contains incitement to violence, which violates election integrity regulations on the YouTube platform.
For the record, if Trump gets the third warning within 90 days, then YouTube will delete it. Apart from YouTube, other social media that have blocked Trump's account include, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat.
