Airlangga Claims In The Midst Of The Iran-Israel Conflict RI's Inflation Is Still Under Control

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto ensured that Indonesia's inflation was under control amid global uncertainty triggered by the conflict between Iran and Israel.

"If we look at inflation, it is relatively under control," he said at a press conference on the development of economic issues at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Thursday, April 18.

Airlangga said the government had experience in dealing with inflation, as reflected in dealing with inflation during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which at that time reached 5.95 percent.

"However, we are now relatively included in the 2.5 percent range plus minus 1 percent," he said.

Airlangga said that in the last few months the price of foodstuffs has indeed been volatile, which is one of the contributors to inflation due to El Nino which has occurred since February and March 2024.

"After Eid, both rice and cooking oil prices are flatten. Likewise cayenne pepper and red chili. So this inflation does not depend on the conflict in the Middle East. This is domestic inflation and El Nino's influence yesterday," said Airlangga.

Airlangga said the government had collaborated with the central inflation control team to control regional inflation so that inflation remained in the range of 2.5 percent plus minus 1 percent.

On the other hand, Bank Indonesia (BI) will stabilize through monetary policies.
