Jokowi Appreciates PPATK And The Money Laundering Committee For Recognition Of PPT APU Effectiveness
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the National Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering (TPPU) and related institutions for the recognition of the performance of the Anti-Money Laundering Movement and the Prevention of Terrorism Financing (PPT APPU).
"I would like to express my gratitude for the hard work of PPATK, ministries and institutions," said President Jokowi to the Presidential Lecture PPATK in commemoration of the PPT APU Movement, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 17, which was confiscated by Antara.
The President conveyed that the full membership of the Republic of Indonesia in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was a form of recognition for the effectiveness of PPT's regulations, coordination and implementation of the PPT APU movement in Indonesia.
"Finally this will encourage a flock of investments to enter our country, Indonesia. Reputation is important. An international assessment is important," said the President.
Indonesia became the 40th member of FATF at the FATF plenary session on October 25, 2023 in Paris. Indonesia has been accepted by acclamation by 38 FATF members and complements the G20 member countries, all of which have become full members of the FATF.
President Jokowi said that what needs to be mitigated for the threat of crime that continues to grow is by strengthening regulations. For this reason, it is necessary to immediately promulgate the Draft Law (RUU) on Asset Confiscation from Crime and the Bill on Limiting Kartal Money Transactions.
In addition to appreciation, the President also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PPATK and all levels of the National Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU Committee) and other relevant stakeholders who have worked hard to carry out their duties optimally.
Also attending the Presidential Lecture event was Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto as Chairman of the Money Laundering Committee and Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana.

Hadi as Chairman of the TPPU Committee appreciated all the achievements of his staff during 2023, including the Determination and Compliance with the Reporting of the TPPU Prevention and Eradication Action Plan, Terrorism Financing Crimes (TPPT) and Funding for the Proliferation of Mass Destruction Weapons (PPSPM) in 2023 which reached 100 percent; and the Acceleration of Fulfillment of Indonesia's Full Membership Action Plan in FATF in 2023.
Meanwhile, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana said several anticipatory steps on the post-Indonesian membership of FATF, among others, need to improve governance and the effectiveness of PPT APU movement in a sustainable manner, through the fulfillment of periodic FATF follow-up reporting, at every FATF plenary session for the next three years over various deficiencies that have been identified.
"Strengthening internal institutions in each K/L, stakeholders, in an effort to increase Indonesia's active role in the FATF International forum, in order to realize aspects of compliance and effectiveness in the implementation of PPT APU and PPSPM programs that are better in the national context is also something that needs to be done simultaneously," said Ivan.
