Minister Basuki: Functional Toll Roads Help Unravel Traffic Density During Eid Homecoming
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed a number of notes from the results of monitoring the implementation of the 2024 Eid homecoming. Basuki assessed that the operation of a number of functional toll roads was sufficient to help break down traffic density (traffic).
The Ministry of PUPR itself has operated 7 functional toll roads, aka free during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period. One of the functionally operated toll roads is the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Kulonprogo toll road for the Colomadu-Klaten section of 22.3 kilometers (km).
"What is clear is that yesterday I saw that the Solo-Jogja toll road had thousands of cars passing by there. My son from Semarang passed by there to Jogja very smoothly, I immediately landed here, he had arrived in Jogja. So, if (the toll) is functional, God willing, it will help," said Basuki at the PUPR Ministry office, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 16.
In addition to the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Kulonprogo toll road for the Colomadu-Klaten section, the six other toll roads that were opened functionally, namely the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road Section 2B Cikeas-Cibitung along 19.65 km and the South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Toll Road package 3 Kutanegara-Sedang along 8.5 km located on the island of Java.

Then, three other functional toll roads are spread across Sumatra Island, namely the Bangkinang-Koto Kampar Toll Road (24.7 km), the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road Section 2 Kuala Tanjung-Indrapura (9.47 km) and Section 3-4 Tebing Tinggi-Sinaksak (47.15 km) and the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section 2 Limapuluh-Kisaran (32.15 km).
In addition to the operation of functional toll roads, the government has also prepared tariff discounts for a number of toll roads. The rate cut ranges from 14-35 percent for certain groups of vehicles.
Regarding the tariff discount, Basuki has not been able to provide further information because the toll tariff discount for the Lebaran homecoming flow will only be implemented tomorrow.
"If it's a discount, now there will be a discount (toll rate). This is all to attract travelers, right. There is a WFH, then there is a toll discount. So, to spread travelers. Hopefully there will be an impact, later a thorough evaluation will be confirmed by Korlantas and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub)," he added.
