200 Stalls Of Traders in Lembor Market, West Manggarai Burned

JAKARTA - Hundreds of building stalls in Lembor Market, Lembor District, West Manggarai Regency, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara were burnt down on fire Friday, March 5 in the morning.

Head of Lembor sub-district, Pius Baut, confirmed that the Lembor Market fire occurred at around 04.00 WITA.

"It is true that the Lembor market caught on fire and beat up around 200 stalls of traders", said Pius as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 5.

Pius Baut, who when contacted admitted that he was still at the location of the fire, explained that the extinguishing process was still ongoing because the fire was still appearing in one of the buildings.

However, he said there were no casualties in the fire incident and the affected residents were being evacuated.

"The impact of the loss was in the form of material but there were no fatalities. Now we are in the process of evacuating residents to a safe place", he said.

Regarding the cause of the fire, Pius said the cause was not yet known, but the flames spread rapidly, scorched around 200 stalls of traders that were close to each other.

"We do not yet know the cause of the fire and now personnel from the Police are also on-site to investigate further", he said.
