Artists Found Using Subsidized LPG, DPR Asks Government To Implement Closed Distribution System

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR RI Mulyanto regretted the circulation of the news that artist Prilly Latuconsina was caught cooking using a subsidized 3 kg LPG gas. According to him, the event indicates that the monitoring system and distribution of LPG gas melons are still in disarray, so that anyone can get it, including high-income artists. "I ask the government to immediately accelerate the registration of users of 3 kg melon gas so that we have accurate data to build a closed distribution system," he said in a statement to the media, Saturday, April 13. Mulyanto said, this data is important as a basis for evaluation to formulate criteria for the distribution of LPG system behind closed doors and establish those who are entitled to use subsidized 3 kg melon gas. Mulyanto explained that the DPR has actually long asked the Government to collect public data which is considered feasible using subsidized LPG gas. However, until now the data has not been available. Even though the data is very important to measure the amount of subsidized LPG consumption for the community, it is not able to accurately. Mulyanto said, this is important so that the value of LPG subsidy can be controlled and the distribution is right on target, not as now where anyone is free to buy subsidized 3 kg melon gas. "3 kg Elpiji gas is for poor people and micro businesses that are unable. Do not let them who are able, let alone artists, free to buy subsidized melon gas. This is a waste of state money. Moreover, this melon gas is held in an import that drains the country's foreign exchange," continued Mulyanto.

Mulyanto explained that the open distribution system of melon gas as it is today demands strict supervision. Because subsidized goods are goods under supervision, but because the practice of being monitored by the Government is very weak, the deviation of the distribution of 3 kg melon gas is a serious problem. Therefore, Mulyanto urged the Government to have a subsidized 3 kg melon gas closed distribution system to be realized immediately
