Hipmi Values Government Needs Intervention To Prevent Rising Goods Prices Ahead Of Eid
JAKARTA - The government is considered to need to intervene in the price of goods, including by applying an upper limit. This is to prevent uncontrolled increases ahead of Eid.
"There needs to be government intervention to anticipate current increases. For example, the implementation of minimum limit policies and upper price limits. So, if prices tend to rise, then just set the upper limit. Why is that? Because there are no provisions for price restrictions, it will cause price losses that tend to continue to rise," said Secretary General of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP Hipmi) Anggawira quoting Antara.
HIPMI highlights the phenomenon of price increases ahead of Eid which always occurs every year in almost all sectors, be it food, transportation and energy.
There is inflation caused by several things, one of which is the cost drive and withdrawal of demand. This withdrawal of demand is usually the cause of the surge in the price of goods ahead of Eid," he said.
Anggawira hopes that whatever government policies can be announced ahead of the Eid holiday because they will be closely related to people's purchasing power which will also affect economic turnover.
"Household consumption is closely related to the country's economic stimulation, so it is unfortunate that the increase in goods can affect the decreasing amount of consumption," he said.
According to him, the moment of Eid as now is the right time to increase support for MSMEs with people who shop a lot for needs at Eid al-Fitr 1445 H.
Anggawira juga meminta masyarakat agar tidak panik jika harga- harga menjelang lebaran ini menjadi naik karena masyarakat cenderung mengonsumsi barang yang sama.
This is what makes the increase in demand so that prices tend to increase, even though the supply of goods sold is relatively the same.
According to him, the step to anticipate the routine spike is that the public must be able to evaluate the purchase decision.
"This means that the public must be more careful in determining the purchase of an item, both in terms of necessity and desire. The community must be wiser and smarter in allocating the budget. Prioritize spending the main needs," he said.

In order to prevent a high price increase, Tito instructed local governments to ensure the availability of food supplies in their respective areas is adequate.
In addition, Tito also emphasized the importance of local governments taking advantage of the low-cost food movement program initiated by the National Food Agency (Bapanas). The program is expected to be well supported by the local government.
"There is support from the center to carry out the movement that the cheap market must be captured, supported by each region and region as well as making the same movement that the Food Agency has not touched because it is limited," explained Tito.
