Kia EV5 Starts Production In China For Global Markets, Thailand And Australia Become Two Destination Countries

JAKARTA - Kia continues to expand its electric car lineup, one of which is EV5 which comes with a new design philosophy 'Opposites United' which reflects the shift in the focus of the brand towards electrification.

Quoting from the ArenaEV page, Friday, April 5, the global version of EV5 is now starting to be produced from the assembly line at the Yancheng plant, which is intended for the global market.

There are two versions in China, first for the Standard version equipped with a 160 kW electric motor mounted on the front, and the higher version of AWD adds a 70 kW electric motor that can accelerate 0-100 km/hour only 6.1 seconds.

In addition, the Standard version has a battery capacity of 58 kWh, while for the highest variant it is 88 kWh with a range exceeding 644 km, and uses an LFP Blade battery from BYD.'

The South Korean brand will export the model to the Thai market, this is also confirmed because the model has appeared in the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show.

Apart from Thailand, Australia and Australia are also confirmed to be the next country to come with this elegant design model. Even the EV5 price is expected to be competitive.

"It has to be competitive (price) against Model Y, the goal is to target sales volume," Roland Rivero, General Manager of Product Planning in Kia Australia, told Drive.
