Reasons For The KPK To Prevent Corruption Cases From The Directorate General Of Taxes Abroad: Make Investigations Easier

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prevents suspects in corruption cases at the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, from leaving the country.

KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri said prevention abroad was carried out to facilitate the investigation of cases currently being carried out by his party.

"Prevention of going abroad is of course in the interests of the smooth running of the investigation process so that if needed for the examination they will be at home", Ali said in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, March 4.

Ali said that this prevention had been carried out according to applicable procedures and was carried out on several suspects in this case. However, Ali did not specify who was prevented and how long it would take.

The KPK has indeed sent a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration regarding the prohibition of going abroad for those who are involved in this case.

"The KPK has indeed sent a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration to prohibit several parties related to this case", he said.

Previously reported, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata confirmed that his party had asked for the prevention of the suspect in the corruption case at the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, even though the perpetrator has not been announced.

"Generally, we prevent each named suspect from leaving the country", said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata at the Red and White KPK building, South Jakarta, Thursday, March 4.

Meanwhile, when asked the suspect and when the proposal for prevention was made, Alex did not answer. According to him, the announcement of the names involved in the corruption case was not made to prevent investigators from being disturbed in completing their work.

"We did not reveal the names or related companies. So that fellow investigators are not disturbed by the investigation and search for evidence", he said.

"Later on, there will be efforts, especially with the detention, later we will announce the suspect and at the same time we will detain him", he concluded.
