Billie Eilish, iko Wonder And 200 Other Musicians Demand Protection From AI Use

JAKARTA - More than 200 musicians and songwriters have signed a letter from the Artist Rights Alliance (Aliansi Hak Artist) demanding protection for musicians from the use of artificial intelligence (AI) or artificial intelligence.

Several famous singers who signed include Billie Eilish, Calum Scott, Camila Cabello, Jamie Cullum, Julia Michaels, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith and Zayn Malik.

In addition, there are also several senior musicians such asmoto Wonder, Diana Krall, Jon Bon Jovi, Norah Jones, and Sheryl Crow, as well as two Jonas Brothers and Pearl Jam music groups.

They asked AI developers to digital streaming platforms (DSP) or digital music services to pay attention to the issues currently facing musicians.

We, members of the artist community and songwriters who signed below, call on developers Al, technology companies, platforms, and digital music services to stop the use of artificial intelligence (Al) that violates and demeans the rights of human artists," reads a letter from Artist Rights Alliance.

Make no mistake: we believe that, if used responsibly, Al has enormous potential to advance human creativity and in a way that allows the development and growth of new experiences and appeals to music enthusiasts everywhere. Unfortunately, some platforms and developers hire Al to sabotage creativity and weaken artists, songwriters, musicians, and copyright holders."

If used irresponsibly, Al poses a major threat to our ability to protect our privacy, identity, music and livelihood. Some of the largest and strongest companies, without permission, use our work to train the Al model. These efforts are directly aimed at replacing the work of human artists with noise'' and large amounts of Al's creation that substantially reduce the amount of royalties paid to artists. For many musicians, artists, and songwriters who are only trying to meet their needs, this will be a major disaster.

They think that uncontrolled use of AI will affect human creativity, and make music go to its lowest point.

"If it is not controlled, Al will trigger a race towards a low that will lower the value of our work and prevent us from getting fair compensation for the work," he said.

'Attacks on human creativity must be stopped. We must protect ourselves from the use of Al predators to steal the voices and similarities of professional artists, violate the rights of creators, and destroy the music ecosystem.'
