Men's Doubles Profile Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto
JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto is one of the elite men's doubles pairs currently owned by Indonesia.
Fajar/Rian achieved their latest achievement at All England 2024. In that event, they came out as champions after stopping Malaysian ambassador Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, two straight games on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
That is their second title in the world's oldest badminton event at the Super 1000 level. Interestingly, they got these two titles back-to-back, aka in two consecutive years.
The previous year, Fajar/Rian received their first title at Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England, after defeating compatriots, namely veteran pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.

Fajar Alfian turned 29 years old on March 7, 2024. He was born in Bandung and then started his career at PB SGS club PLN Bandung before entering the PBSI Cipayung national training center (Pelatnas) since 2014.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Rian Ardianto is one year younger. Rian was born in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on February 13, 1996. He then started his journey in badminton from the Jaya Raya Jakarta club.
Fajar/Rian began to be paired as doubles in July 2014. At the beginning as partners, their achievements immediately shot up by winning the Indonesia International tournament in three consecutive years, namely 2014, 2015, and 2016.
At a higher level, the pair won the men's doubles silver medal in the 2018 Asian Games, the 2017 SEA Games bronze medal, and the 2019 and 2022 World Championships.
They are also part of the Indonesian team that won the Thomas Cup in 2020. Their success ended 19 years of title drought faced by Merah-White at the event.
In 2022, Fajar/Rian will add their prestigious titles, such as the Swiss Open, Indonesia Masters, and the Malaysia Masters. In addition, they are also runners-up at the Thailand Open, Korea Open, Malaysia Open, and Singapore Open.
This achievement made Fajar/Rian also get a ticket to the BWF Finals Tour. It was the first time they could qualify and play in the closing event of the season.
The couple then reached the peak of their career as the number one in the men's doubles world on December 27, 2022. The smooth road continued the following year by winning their first Super 1000 title at the Malaysia Open.
The list of achievements above clearly makes Fajar/Rian one of the backbones of Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The gold medal from the event will perfect their brilliant achievements.
