VIDEO: Crowded Again, Promise Prabowo Bans IPhone Imports, Apple Panic Boss?
JAKARTA - Ihwal janji Prabowo Subianto tentang pelarangan impor iPhone kembali ramai dibicarakan di media sosial. Prabowo meminta Apple membuka pabriknya di Indonesia. Hal itu disebut-sebut membuat CEO Apple Tim Cook segera meminta pertemuan Jokowi.
The news of the arrival of Apple CEO Tim Cook to meet President Jokowi is being discussed on social media. A number of observers predict that Tim Cook's presence is related to Prabowo Subianto's campaign promise so that technology goods producing countries can build factories in Indonesia. One of the well-known manufacturers of electronic and telecommunications technology goods is Apple.
IPhone products are selling well in the Indonesian market. Unlike most other smartphone manufacturers that already have factories in Indonesia, Apple is still selling iPhones through imported lines.
Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi revealed the reason why Apple has not built a factory in Indonesia. Budi explained that this was because all countries, including Indonesia, are still competing and trying to attract Apple to build factories in their respective countries. Currently, almost all smartphones sold in Indonesia must be assembled domestically to comply with the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) rules, only iPhones still import complete goods.
However, Apple products can still be sold domestically because they meet TKDN regulations using investment schemes through the capital used to build the Apple Developer Academy. Regarding the presence of Tim Cook in Indonesia, one of them is to inaugurate the Apple Developer Academy in Bali.
It is known that the training is intended for domestic human resources and has reached 2,000 people who follow it. Then when do you think Apple will open its factory in Indonesia? And is building a domestic Apple factory going to lower the price of the iPhone? Watch the video below.
