PT Timah Corruption Has Been Going On For A Long Time, Member Of Commission VI Questions The Role Of Directors And Commissioners
JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives from the PDI-P faction, Harris Turino, questioned the role of directors and commissioners of PT Timah Tbk (TINS) in the corruption case of mining business license trading (IUP) which is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) and involved 17 suspects.
He said that the alleged corruption case should have been detected first by the company's directors and commissioners, but in reality it was found by the AGO.
"We know that tin cases should depart from the findings of directors or commissioners. But what emerged was the AGO conducting research," Harris said in an RDP with PT Timah quoted Wednesday, April 3.
When the news related to this case began to get busy, he also highlighted the respson of the board of directors who only gave statements through the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) which stated that there was no involvement of the board of directors in this case. He suspects that there was an act of omission carried out by the company's internals.
"When research started, it was crowded, then what drew your answer to the stock exchange, it was officially said that there was no corporate involvement, there was no involvement of the board of directors, meaning this omission, sir! The proof is that the board of directors entered (as suspects) here. This is very terrible," continued Harris.
In addition to highlighting the role of directors and commissioners, he also questioned the export of lead metal in the first semester which only reached 8307, even though TINS held an IUP of 472,000 hectares.
"Other smelters are under 1,000 hectares but exports of the first semester of 2023, only 8307 tons. Meanwhile, the combination of the private smelter is 23,470 tons. This is a magic number. This means that state revenues have decreased and environmental damage is unavoidable. This is what the AGO has also opened," said Harris.
For this reason, he continued, Commission VI took the initiative to form a working committee (pemployment) to discuss cases of alleged corruption that allegedly cost the state Rp271 trillion.
He also asked for cooperation from the board of directors to dismantle all the depravity that was in PT Timah's body.
"We agreed to investigate further, where the company's management is actually from 2015-2023.sak deg sak tight, but there is no initiative at all. Maybe the management is afraid to dismantle it. At the committee meeting to dismantle everything, sir!" concluded Harris.
