BYD Electric Vehicle Sales Increase Drastically In March 2024, This Model Is The Best Selling

JAKARTA - BYD, an automotive company from China, confirmed its position as a automaker by obtaining plug-in (consisting of EV and PHEV) sales of more than 300,000 units globally during March.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Wednesday, April 3, the company obtained sales of 301,631 units or 46 percent higher than last year with nearly 15,000 of them being EVs from its sub-smacks.

In March, BYD's overall electric vehicle sales (EV) reached 139,902 units, an increase of 36 percent from last year. Meanwhile, PHEV sales also experienced an increase of up to 56 percent or 161,729 units.

Throughout this year, the manufacturer, which was founded in 2003, posted sales of up to 624,284 units, up 14 percent from last year's gains.

Of this number, the EV segment contributed as many as 300,114 units, an increase of 13 percent. Meanwhile, PHEV cars were sold up to 324,284 units, an increase of 14 percent from last year.

Meanwhile, BYD's best-selling model fell to the Song series which earned sales of 78,490 units, an increase of up to 94 percent from the previous year.

The second best-selling model is Qin with a total of 40,569 units (including EVs and PHEVs) or almost the equivalent of last year's number. Complementing the top three, there is Seagull as an entry-level electric vehicle of 34,830 units and managed to outperform Yuan with 32,806 units.

In 2024, BYD intends to achieve a growth rate with an average of more than 20 percent. Moreover, the company intends to exceed its achievements last year.

For information, this manufacturer sold more than 3 million electric plug-in cars with passengers in 2023. This figure increased by 62 percent compared to the previous year's achievement and made it the largest automotive producer in China.
