JAKARTA - The SAR team is trying to save dozens of people trapped in the rubble of buildings due to the 7.4 magnitude Taiwan earthquake.

The Taiwan earthquake reportedly killed 7 people, and hundreds more were injured, reported by CNN, Wednesday, April 3. The earthquake that shook at 07.58 local time was followed by aftershocks.

Taiwan's National Fire Department (NFA) said seven people were killed, 736 injured, and 77 others were still trapped after the earthquake.

All of the dead were in Hualien Regency, of whom three climbers died as a result of being hit by a rock at the Ngarai Taroko tourist spot, NFA said.

The fallen rock also killed a truck driver in the mouth of a tunnel on Jalan Raya Suhua on the east coast, he added.

Meanwhile, rescue teams are heading to 12 people, including two Canadians, who are trapped on a footpath in a ravine.

Two German nationals were also trapped in a tunnel in Hualien, the NFA said, although their condition was unclear.
