Defense Minister Prabowo Scheduled To Meet Japanese PM Today

JAKARTA - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Kishida Fumio, Japanese Defense Minister Kihara Minuru, and Former Japanese 91st PM/President of Japan-Indonesia Society Yasuo Fukuda in Tokyo, Wednesday, April 3.

The meeting was held in order to build bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in the defense sector.

Based on an official press release from the Ministry of Defense received by ANTARA today, Prabowo reportedly arrived at Haneda airport, Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, April 2 evening.

His arrival was immediately welcomed by several Japanese governments, one of which was the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masaki Yasushi.

The ranks of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Japan also welcomed Prabowo's arrival at the airport.

With this state visit, Prabowo hopes that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan can be maintained properly.

Before visiting Japan, Prabowo had also made a state visit to China from Monday, April 1 to Tuesday.

The purpose of his arrival was the same, namely in order to build bilateral relations between Indonesia and China and open up opportunities for cooperation in the military sector.

During the meeting, Prabowo met with top Chinese officials namely Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and Defense Minister, Admiral Dong Jun.

China's top officials welcomed the meeting. They also hope that cooperation in the military and bilateral relations between Indonesia and China can be well established.
