Ahead Of The 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada, The KPU Prepares A Technical Guidance Program
JAKARTA - The year 2024 will not only be the year of the highest leadership change (president and vice president). This year, Indonesia will also hold a simultaneous regional head election contestation (Pilkada).
The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia is also preparing to hold technical guidance (bimtek) for the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. They will invite the provincial KPU, the Independent Election Commission (KIP) Aceh, and the district/city KPU.
"We will also plan in the near future to invite the provincial KPU, KIP Aceh, district/city KPU, to provide technical guidance," said RI KPU member Idham Holik in Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 31.
He asked the ranks of the Provincial KPU, Aceh KIP, and Regency/City KPU to immediately prepare the stages of holding the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.
Idham said the Indonesian KPU would provide directions so that the implementation of the regional elections held by the KPU at the regional level would run effectively.
In addition, he also revealed that the Indonesian KPU is facing a dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) or the 2024 election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK).
"Because 2024 is the year of holding simultaneous elections and the year of the simultaneous national election (pilkada), we give directions to the KPU in the regions to be effective and efficient in carrying out the stages in these two types of elections," he said.
Not only that, Idham explained that the KPU is running the regional election stages for individual candidates. Therefore, the KPU continues to socialize to figures who want to advance in the regional elections.
"Because indeed on May 5, 2024, the nomination stage for individuals has begun. And we have also disseminated a voter support form to individual candidates. For figures who want to become individual candidates, they can communicate with the provincial KPU, Aceh KIP, or districts/cities throughout Indonesia," concluded Idham.
