Ahead Of Lebaran Thousands Of WBP Proposed To Get Remission, 12 People Are Immediately Free
PANGKAL PINANG - Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bangka Belitung Islands Province proposed 1,653 correctional inmates (WBP) and foster children who had met the requirements to receive Special Remission for Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriyah.
"If this proposal is approved, 12 of them will be released immediately on the first day of Eid al-Fitr," said Head of the Correctional Division of the Babel Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office Kunrat Kasmiri in Pangkalpinang, Sunday.
He said as many as 1,653 inmates and children who had met the proposed requirements received special remissions for Eid al-Fitr 2024 spread across prisons in regencies and cities, namely the Class IIA Pangkalpinang Narcotics Prison as many as 710 people, the Class IIA Pangkalpinang Prison 324 people.
Furthermore, there were 323 Class IIB Sungailiat prisons, Class IIB Tanjungpan Prisons and 132 people, Class III Pangkalpinang LPP as many as 76 people, Class IIB Muntok detention center as many as 63 people, Class II Pangkalpinang LPKA as many as 25 people.
"Currently, the number of Correctional Inmates (WBP) in the Bangka Belitung area is 2,579 people, consisting of 1,981 prisoners and 598 prisoners," he said.
He stated that in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 16 of 2023 concerning the Third Amendment to Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 3 of 2018 concerning Terms and Procedures for Providing Remissions, Assimilation, Leave for Visiting Families, Conditional Liberation, Free Leave, and Conditional Leave, that the proposed special remission for Eid al-Fitr is given to Muslim convicts who have served a minimum sentence for 6 months must also be well behaved, actively follow the coaching program and have shown a decrease in risk level.
The amount of this remission is given 15 days to 2 months according to the criminal period that the prisoner has served.
"It is hoped that this remission will motivate prisoners to undergo a good coaching program, obey the law, become good and productive people," he said.
