Explosion Of Paldam Jaya Munition Warehouse, Metro Police Chief Offers Jihandak Team
JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said he would deploy an explosives disposal team (Jihandak) as assistance in handling fires and explosions at the Paldam Jaya Munisi Warehouse. The assistance is merely a form of TNI-Polri synergy under any conditions.
"We will also prepare Jihandak tomorrow, if the Kodam Commander needs help, we will prepare it," Karyoto told reporters, Saturday, March 30.
In addition, members of the police will also help secure materials that fall into community settlements. So, it will not be misused later.
"We also have professional personnel, if possible there is explosive material that is thrown away, then close to community settlements or in public places, we will help," he said.
Then, the National Police will also help regarding the shift of residents who are worried about the incident. However, it was emphasized that this was not an evacuation step.
"The first anticipation of the community who is most likely to have the most potential to be affected is that we are few to, it does not mean evacuation, but only slightly shift so that the impacts are safe," said Karyoto.
Previously, Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. Mohamad Hasan said the cause of the fire and the explosion of the Paldam Jaya Munisi Warehouse from the ammunition had expired.
