List 8 Of Olympic Gold Medals Won By Indonesia
JAKARTA Indonesia has won a total of eight gold medals throughout its participation in the Olympics.
The eight gold medals were all obtained from only one sport (sports), namely badminton. This sport has consistently won gold medals in seven of the eight Olympic editions since 1992 at Barcelona.
The only edition in which Indonesia returned without a gold medal was the 2012 London Olympics. At that time, three medals (2 silver and 1 bronze) for Indonesia were donated by weightlifting.
Overall, Indonesia has collected 37 medals at the Olympics. In detail, eight gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals from the four-year multi-event.

Barcelona 1992
The first two Indonesian athletes to ride the gold medal podium were Susi Susanti and Alan Budikusuma, each from the women's singles number and the men's singles number.
Alan came out as champion after defeating compatriot Ardy Wiranata in the final. Susi then married the title by stopping South Korean representative Bang Soo-hyun.
Atlanta 1996
This year, it is the turn of the men's doubles number to win a gold medal. The pair who at that time managed to come out as champions were Rexy Mainaky/Ricky Subagja.
Rexy/Ricky managed to carve their names in history after finally stopping Malaysian ambassador Cheah Soon Kit/Yap Kim Hock, in a fierce rubber game.
Sydney 2000
In this edition, the men's doubles number again repeated their glory. However, this time it was Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya's turn to feel the atmosphere on the highest podium.

Beijing 2008
The gold medal from China was pocketed by Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan. The men's doubles followed in the footsteps of the previous two men's doubles by stopping Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng from China.
The result made the men's doubles the most successful sector regarding the gold medal at the Olympics. They were followed by men's singles who had two gold medals and the remaining three sectors each had one gold medal.
Rio de Janeiro 2016
This is one of the sweetest victories for Indonesia. The reason is, right on the anniversary of Indonesia's independence, the mixed doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir managed to present a gold medal.
The Owi/Butet pair gave the sweet gift after defeating the Malaysian pair, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying, in a two-game straight fight.
Tokyo 2020
The latest gold from badminton for Indonesia was presented by the women's doubles pair Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu at the Olympics which had been postponed due to the corona pandemic.
At that time, Greysia/Apri did not come as the seed. They then managed to beat the seed from China, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, two straight games.
