The Ketapang Ferry Port Service Unit, Banyuwangi at the Class II Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) of East Java Province stated that 54 units of the Ketapang (Banyuwangi)-Gilimanuk (Bali) track ferry were good and ready to serve Eid 2024 transportation.

"Since two weeks ago we have carried out a ramp check or picking test of all ferries prepared to serve passengers on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing track," said the Coordinator of the Ketapang Ferry Port Service Unit, Banyuwangi at the Class II Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) of East Java Province, Bayu Kusumo Nugroho, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

He said, of the 54 units of the fleet of ships that are ready to operate to serve travelers from Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency, Bali, to Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, four of them are assistance ships from the Padan Bai (Bali)-Lembar (Lombok) track and a assistance ship from the Jangangan (Situbondo)-Lembar (Lombok) track.

Meanwhile, 50 units of ferries, said Bayu, are ferries that have been operating on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing route, and all of them have been ramp checked before entering the 2024 Eid homecoming flow.

"So, the four ferries of assistance will also be prepared to serve passengers (homecomers) on the Eid homecoming flow, because the capacity is greater," he said.

Bayu explained that from the results of the marine goods test, starting from various shipping safety supports, including the condition of the ship's engine, it is ensured that it is safe and seaworthy.

Officers from the Ketapang Ferry Port Service Unit, Class II BPTD, East Java Province, only found that it was related to the cleanliness of the ship when checking dozens of ferry units.

"Yes, the findings are only about cleanliness, currently there are some ferries on the docking of painting," he said.
