IDR 1 Billion In Cash For Online Gambling, State-Owned Bank Employees Become Suspects

BADUNG - A man with the initials IBGS (33) an employee of the Kuta branch of the BUMN Bank, Badung Regency, Bali, was named a suspect by the Badung District Prosecutor's Office (Kejari). The suspect was immediately detained at the Klas IIA Kerobokan prison.

"The suspect has been detained with the initials IBGS on suspicion of a criminal act of corruption committed at a state-owned enterprise engaged in the banking sector at the Kuta Branch Office," said Head of the Badung Prosecutor's Office, I Ketut Maha Agung, Wednesday, March 3.

The suspect worked in the marketing department and took care of this credit, allegedly collecting People's Business Credit (KUR) funds, with a loss of around Rp. 1 billion. The money was used by the suspect for online gambling as well as daily necessities.

The suspect embezzled company money by providing mask credit or using a certain name. However, it is used by other people and then temporary credit or the use of credit funds is carried out with the nurse and the customer.

"From the results of the investigation, it is known that the suspect is suspected of having committed a criminal act of corruption in a state-owned enterprise engaged in the Kuta Branch office banking sector in the form of providing mask loans, temporary credits, using debtors' credit repayments," he said.

"The use of debtor credit installment deposits and the embezzlement of debtor credit collateral with the modus operandi of misusing KUR Credit SOPs and theft and embezzlement of credit collateral have been carried out since 2013 (until) 2017," he added.

Agung explained that the handling of cases of suspected corruption in the banking and financial realm that are suspected of causing losses to state finances is handled by the Badung District Prosecutor's Office in accordance with the SOP.

Then, the suspect's actions violated Article 2 paragraph (1), Article 3, Article 8 jo. Article 18 of the Law on Corruption jo. Article 64 of the Criminal Code.

"After the suspect is declared healthy and a rapid antigen test is carried out with a negative result. Furthermore, there will be detention for 20 days starting from today at the Kerobokan Class IIA Penitentiary," said Agung.
