Ministry Of Communication And Informatics Has Blocked Snack Video App And Website
JAKARTA - The Snack Video site and application were finally officially blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo). This decision was taken based on an assessment from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through the Investment Alert Task Force (SWI) which declared Snack Video an illegal entity.
As a result, a number of Snack Video users can no longer access the site or application. Kominfo spokesman, Dedy Permadi explained, Snack Video has been officially blocked by the government as of March 2, 2021.
"At the request of the relevant authorities, the application is no longer accessible", said Dedy in his short message, Wednesday, March 3.
Snack Video itself is an application that offers users income by watching videos and the invite friends system.
This application is declared by SWI as an illegal entity because its activities are not registered as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) and do not have a legal entity and a license to operate in Indonesia.
"We have discussed it with the Snack Video management and there is an agreement to stop its activities until the permit is obtained", said OJK Investment Alert Task Force Chairman Tongam L. Tobing in his press statement.
Apart from Snack Video, the Task Force also urged the public not to use similar applications, such as VTube and TikTok Cash. So far, SWI has found 26 business activity entities that are alleged without permission from the competent authorities and have the potential to harm the public.
