Sri Mulyani Says The State Budget Is Still A Surplus Of IDR 22.8 Trillion In March 2024

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati reported that the performance of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) until March 15, 2024, recorded a surplus of IDR 22.8 trillion, or equivalent to 0.10 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

"The position of the state budget is still experiencing a surplus of IDR 22.8 trillion or 0.10 percent of GDP," Sri Mulyani said in a press conference on the KITA State Budget, Monday, March 25, 2024.

Sri Mulyani explained that state revenue on March 15, 2024, reached Rp493.2 trillion or 17.6 percent of the 2024 APBN target. The revenue comes from taxes, customs and excise, as well as non-tax state revenues (PNBP).

According to Sri Mulyani, state revenues reached Rp493.2 trillion until March 15, 2024. This figure is down 5.4 percent year on year (yoy) compared to last year.

"I always say this from last year, the growth in state revenues is very high in 2021 and 2022, it can also be maintained in 2023, and we know it will be corrected (this year). If we look at negative growth of 5.4 percent," said Sri Mulyani.

In terms of spending until March 15, 2024, Sri Mulyani said that the government had spent Rp470.3 trillion or 14.1 percent of the budget ceiling. According to Sri Mulyani, this value is quite high 18.1 percent (yoy) compared to the same period last year.

Thus, Sri Mulyani said that the position of the State Budget was still in a surplus of IDR 22.8 trillion or 0.10 percent of GDP and the primary balance was also a surplus of IDR 132.1 trillion.
