Land Burner In Rohil That Made 3 Hectare Areas Burnt Arrested By Police
The Rokan Hilir Police, Riau arrested a man with the initials E (46) because he was suspected of deliberately setting fire to the forest to open land on Jalan SP42B Kepenhuluan Sungai Meluka, Bangko Pusako District.
Rohil Police Chief AKBP Andrian Pramudianto explained that the incident was first discovered by the local Bhabinkamtibmas based on hotspots detected on the Lancang Kuning Dashboard.
Arriving at the location, Bhabinkamtibmas saw a land burned down and reported it to the Bangko Pusako Sector Police.
"After the Bangko Pusako Police conducted a series of investigations and processed the scene of the case, it is suspected that the fire was caused by E who deliberately burned the land. As a result of the interrogation, E admitted that his land was deliberately burned on Monday morning (18/3)," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.
The perpetrator brought pieces of tires from his house and collected dried twigs and shrubs. Furthermore, everything that was brought was burned using a lighter.
After the fire started, E let the fire grow and finally the fire widened. The perpetrator tried to extinguish the fire, but because the fire was getting wider and E grew and finally returned home.
"For a few days, it turned out that the fire had spread to other people's land. The burned area was approximately 3 hectares," he said.

E also admitted that he deliberately burned the land to plant oil palm. Then E and the evidence were brought to the Bangko Pusako Police Headquarters for further investigation.
As a result of his actions, E was charged with Article 78 paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 50 paragraph (2) letter b of the Republic of Indonesia Law N0.41 of 1999 concerning Forestry as amended by paragraph 4 of Article 36 of Law No. 6 of 2023 concerning the stipulation of Government regulations in lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 concerning job creation into Law or Article 108 in conjunction with Article 69 paragraph 1 letter h in conjunction with Article 98 paragraph 1 or Article 99 of environmental management.
