Minister Of Agriculture Amran's Solution For Rice Fields Affected By Floods In Kendal

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman provided a solution for rice fields affected by floods in Kendal Regency, Central Java.

"We come, we see directly, we provide solutions," Amran said, quoting Antara.

Arriving at the agricultural land area affected by the flood, Amran immediately had a dialogue with farmers and district and village government officials.

Amran moved quickly to distribute various aids needed by flood-affected farmers so that production activities continued and farmers did not experience deep losses.

"We provide the first solution, we save rice by sending pumps and combine developers, God willing, this combiner harvest tool will arrive this afternoon," said Amran.

Furthermore, Amran admitted that he had asked his staff at the Ministry of Agriculture to immediately distribute free seeds. "The second is seeds that we replace 1,000 hectares and free", he said.

Amran promised to provide a permanent solution in the form of pumping and maintenance of the canal. The pump engine can be maximized to immediately suck up flood water that inundates rice fields.

In addition to pump machines, solutions are also provided by involving the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in the form of technology to modify rain.

"We provide a permanent solution, there are five pumps we will install here, and next is BNPB, which will create a kind of technology that can modify rain or weather, so that the rain can be directed to other places," explained Amran.

Complementing the distributed aid, Amran said that he would provide various types of government aid agricultural machinery for free.

He asked that the assistance be managed and used together by farmers around the Kendal area.

Kendal is a district whose rice fields are most affected by the flooding that never recedes. In fact, most of the rice fields are preparing for the harvest season.

For this reason, Amran emphasized that the local Bulog would immediately absorb the maximum proceeds from grain from farmers affected by the flood, without mentioning the area of land affected by the flood.
