Roll Spezia 3-0, Juventus Approach Inter With 7 Points Margin
JAKARTA - Juventus cut the distance from the top position of the Italian League standings after beating Spezia 3-0 in Week 25 at the Allianz Stadium, Turin, Tuesday local time.
This victory makes Juventus, who are in third place, now collect 49 points or only seven points from leaders Inter Milan, who just played on Friday morning Indonesian's time.
Meanwhile, Spezia (25), who lost their second in their last three matches, dropped to 16th.
Spezia got off to a good start when Diego Farias sent a through ball, but Riccardo Marchizza's finish struck the outside of the hosts' net.
Juve slowly took control of the game and created chances when Alex Sandro sent Dejan Kulusevski's deep ball, but goalkeeper Ivan Provedel came out of the nest to clear the ball.
Three minutes before halftime, Cristiano Ronaldo almost opened Juventus' lead after receiving a pass from Kulusevski which hit the post.
In the 61st minute, two substitutes for Federico Bernardeschi and Alvaro Morata worked together nicely to break Spezia's goal while opening Juventus' lead.
Morata's goal was initially disallowed because the linesman raised an offside flag against Bernardeschi, but after consultation with VAR referee Juan Luca Sacchi confirmed it.
