Schools In Central Jakarta Apply Distance Learning Ahead Of KPU Announce Election Results

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government applies distance learning (PJJ) to school students in Central Jakarta to coincide with the timing of the announcement of the results of the 2024 General Election recapitulation.

The decision to implement learning from home for students in Central Jakarta is because it is considered a vulnerable area.

Bearing in mind, when the announcement of the results of the 2019 General Election, there was a demonstration against the results of the presidential and vice presidential elections (pilpres) which led to clashes between the mass of action and the apparatus around the offices of the General Election Commission (KPU) and Bawaslu.

Head of the Central Jakarta Regional I Education Sub-Department, Rahayu Asih Subekti, said that schools in the sub-district area located near the KPU and Bawaslu offices had implemented PJJ from today, Tuesday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 20.

"The area that has implemented the PJJ in Sawah Besar, Menteng, Gambir, Tanah Abang sub-districts," said Rahayu, Tuesday, March 19.

Meanwhile, four other sub-districts in Central Jakarta will only implement PJJ on Wednesday.

"The areas of Kemayoran, Senen, Johar Baru, and Cempaka Putih, because they are a bit far from the location of the Bawaslu and KPU offices, (PJJ) will only start tomorrow," he said.

It was informed that a number of elements of society held demonstrations from Monday, March 18 to Wednesday, March 20, which coincided with the announcement limit for the recapitulation of the 2024 General Election vote results.

Since yesterday, the KPU office has been raided by a mass of action that narrates the rejection of the election results because it is suspected of being marked by fraud. The DPR RI building was also the target of the location of the demonstration.

In terms of security, the National Police deployed 4,992 joint personnel. "We have not conveyed the points technically, but globally, of course there are 4,992 personnel," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, to reporters, Monday, March 18.

The deployment of thousands of personnel was carried out to oversee the demonstrations that will be held by a number of mass groups ahead of the announcement of the recapitulation results. In addition, Trunoyudo said the KPU asked for a security thickening.

"Of course there is (the request for security thickening), related to security and this is an obligation for us by the National Police to carry out security, including in the 2024 Brata Great Operation," said Trunoyudo.
