Sony Stops PSVR 2 Production Because Sales Decrease

JAKARTA Sony Corporation, an electronics company from Japan, launched the PlayStation VR (PSVR) 2 in February last year. To date, Sony has produced more than two million headsets. Based on the Boloomberg report, the company suspended PSVR 2 production for a while. During production discontinued, Sony will maximize sales of the inventories still available.PSVR 2 is an attractive accessory for PlayStation 5. The device is priced at $549 (Rp8.6 million) and is compatible for high-quality gaming. However, sales of this device continue to decline. This low demand may be due to the game presented not so much. PSVR 2 only supports Horizon Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil series of entries, and a smaller number of games. At a higher price, many PlayStation 5 fans have put their hopes on the headsetter. Unfortunately, Sony is unable to meet the expectations of fans because of its small content.

In addition to stopping PSVR 2 production, Sony has also recently laid off employment (PHK). Reportedly, layoffs of 900 of these employees had an impact on the team working on their VR title. To boost the content presented on its virtual headset, Sony brings PSVR 2 support to the Persional Computer (PC). This feature is being tested and can later be used to access more games from PC. It is not yet known in more detail about the name of this feature and how broad the support to connect to PC is. However, the feature that is being prepared is planned to launch at the end of 2024.
