VinFast Offers Battery Rental Program In Indonesia, Overcome Battery Health Concerns

JAKARTA - Electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam, VinFast, which recently entered the Indonesian market, is focusing on developing the electric vehicle market in Indonesia as part of its international expansion mission.

VinFast's innovative policy of battery leasing has proven successful in Vietnam, offering attractive solutions for motorists in Indonesia, especially for those interested in owning their first electric vehicle. VinFast not only makes electric vehicles more affordable for the people of Indonesia, but also provides assurance to customers about battery health.

In purchasing cars, considerations regarding the selling value depend heavily on the reliability of vehicles and their ownership period. In the electric vehicle industry, this concern is even more complicated with concern for battery life. Battery health determines the reach and selling value of electric vehicles, becoming a source of concern for drivers who can significantly affect the value of the car.

"VinFast comes with a subscription-based battery rental policy, an innovation that can separate battery costs from car purchase prices. With this offer, VinFast is determined to address the main concerns of electric vehicle owners regarding the decline in battery health," said VinFast Indonesia CEO Tran Quoc Huy, in an official statement received on Monday, March 18.

This move is part of VinFast's goal as the leader of the electric vehicle industry from Vietnam, which brings new innovations to improve the experience of electric vehicle owners.

Although the government's environmental awareness and incentives are increasing, shifting consumer preferences towards electric vehicles is still a challenge. One obstacle is uncertainty regarding battery life. VinFast is aware of this concern and seeks to help the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia by introducing a battery rental model. VinFast offers a free battery replacement if battery health drops below 70 percent of its original capacity, eliminating concerns and high cost potential for battery replacement.

Although this strategy brings greater complexity and risk to VinFast over traditional battery sales, it prioritizes customer concerns and changes the landscape of the transportation industry to more sustainable.

VinFast overcomes the main concerns about electric vehicles, namely the decline in battery health, which can drastically reduce the selling value of cars. With this battery rental model, it is hoped that it can create a more stable ownership experience and make VinFast vehicles more attractive to customers who care about the long-term retention of the value of electric vehicles.
