BI: QRIS Users In Kaltara Increase 118 Percent
TANJUNG SELOR - Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that users of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in North Kalimantan have increased 118 percent throughout 2023.
"The increase is in line with our efforts to expand and educate digital transactions," said Head of the BI Representative Office (KPw) of North Kalimantan Province, Wahyu Indra Sukma, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, March 17.
In the Economic Report of North Kalimantan Province in February 2024, BI detailed that the number of residents of North Kalimantan who had used QRIS until the fourth quarter of 2023 was 82,054 people, an increase of 9,831 people, an increase of 13.61 percent from the previous quarter.
"As for 2023, the number of QRIS users continues to increase by 118 percent," he said.
This increase shows the greater interest of the people of North Kalimantan in using QRIS as a choice of non-cash payment channels that are universal, easy, profitable, and direct to make transactions on daily life.
To expand the use of QRIS evenly, KPw BI Kaltara made efforts to expand education on the use of QRIS to various levels of society through various programs and collaboration of activities with other related parties.
The increase in the number of QRIS users in North Kalimantan was also followed by an increase in the number of QRIS merchants which was reflected in the increase in the number of National Merchant Respository (NMR).
In the fourth quarter of 2023, the number of QRIS merchants in North Kalimantan was 76,941 merchants and increased rapidly by 6,392 merchants from the previous quarter.

In distribution, merchants in North Kalimantan are still concentrated in Tarakan City which has a share of 46.11 percent, followed by Nunukan Regency and Bulungan Regency at 23.91 percent and 19.86 percent.
In addition, merchants in the Micro Merchant Business category (UMI) still dominate the contribution of 65.95 percent of the total registered merchants to become QRIS merchants.
The large number of UMI category merchants is in accordance with the percentage number of UMI category merchants who dominate all merchants in Indonesia by 99 percent, "said Wahyu Indra Sukma.
