The Public Is Advised To Be Alert To The Increasingly Advanced Mode Of Online Fraud
JAKARTA - In the current era of technological advances, the public is advised to always be aware of the growing mode of online fraud. Cybersecurity expert, Dr. Pratama Persadha, gave tips so as not to become a victim of the crime, among others, by not responding to messages from unknown numbers and using unknown number identification applications such as Truecaller or Getntact.

Dr. Pratama Persadha emphasized the importance of public awareness in dealing with various modes of online fraud that are increasingly sophisticated. "Private people should not be easily deceived by seduction with all the lure that will lead to losses in question," he said.
According to him, by technology literate, the public will always be aware of various modes of fraud, such as fraud under the guise of gifts, online social gatherings, fraud under the guise of family crises, fraudulent investments, and illegal loans.
Fraud Mode Under The Name Of Officials And Organizations
One of the latest fraudulent modes that is quite worrying is fraud through messaging applications by utilizing the profile photo of the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Rudi Setiawan. The perpetrator used the profile photo to send a message to the victim, claiming to be able to assist in the legal process at the KPK or even threatening to sue the victim.

For fraud on behalf of the Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has clarified that the information is a hoax. The KPK asks the public to be vigilant and report to the authorities if they know of fraud attempts with the same mode.
The KPK also emphasized that the handling of cases in these institutions always goes through a process that involves cross-units and is not determined by individuals. Online fraud can be punished in accordance with the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions, with a maximum penalty of 6 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp. 1 billion.
