Vespa Piaggio Launches Robot That Can Move Autonomously, One Of Which Is In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Piaggio, an Italian Vespa manufacturer, has launched a factory robot that uses artificial intelligence to move autonomously on predetermined routes and can carry loads of up to 130 kilograms.

The Italian company said it would use the robot on the production lines of their motorcycle brands, Moto Guzzi, in Italy, and then at other factories in Italy, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

The device, dubbed "kilo" and developed by Piaggio's robotic mobility unit in the United States, the Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), can follow its operator, move over 100 previously recorded routes, or move autonomously.

Robot kilos can move safely together and around workers in complex environments," PFF Chief Executive Officer Greg Lynn said in a statement. Lynn added that this robot is suitable for use by "any sector that relies on the repeative movement of goods."
