Anticipating The Surge In Homecomers In Lebaran 2024, The Ministry Of Transportation Will Present Toll Rates Dikson To Perform Homecoming Time Arrangements

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumasi confirmed that during the 2024 Eid homecoming momentum, his party will make various efforts to replace the surge in travelers. One of them, by discounting toll rates.

Budi said the discount on toll rates was aimed at getting people to go home early. Then, Budi said that the homecoming time will also be arranged.

Furthermore, Budi explained that various policies that would be effective by the government to anticipate a spike in travelers which resulted in congestion at the node and on the road through travel patterns, transportation patterns, and traffic patterns.

"Settings for going home time, holding discounts on mass transportation rates for going home early, going home for free, traffic engineering, discounting toll road rates, to traffic regulation, especially in areas that are at risk of extraordinary density, we will do," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, March 12.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi conveyed that based on the survey results, the national movement of people during Lebaran 2024 was 193.6 million people. This figure is an increase compared to the potential movement of people during the 2023 Eid period, namely 123.8 million people.

Budi also said that the results of this survey had been reported to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and had been informed to relevant stakeholders such as ministries/agencies, local governments, Korlantas Polri, BUMN and the private sector.

"The movement of the community nationally has the potential to reach 7.17 percent of the total population of Indonesia or reach 193.6 million people," Budi said in an official statement, Tuesday, March 12.

Furthermore, Budi explained that of the 193.6 million people who are predicted to go home on Lebaran 2024, 35.42 million choose to use private cars. Then, motorcycles amounted to 31.12 million people.

"The train of fire is 20.3 percent or 39.32 million. The community's interest is influenced by several factors," he said.

Budi also revealed the factors that affected him were the absence of COVID-19, family economy, collective leave, school holidays, improving the quality and quantity of transportation infrastructure, and weather conditions.

Mesih refers to the survey results, Budi said that there are three regions from which the most travel came from, namely East Java at 16.2 percent or 31.3 million people. Then, followed by Jabodetabek at 14.7 percent or 28.43 million people and Central Java at 13.5 percent or 26.11 million people.

"For the most destination areas, namely Central Java, it is 31.8 percent or 61.6 million people; East Java is 19.4 percent or 37.6 million people and West Java is 16.6 percent or 32.1 million people," he said.
