Ministry Of Transportation Survey Results: East Java Becomes The Most Region Of Community Travel During Eid 2024
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation revealed that based on the results of a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency, East Java became the area of origin for the most travel during Lebaran 2024. The total reached 31.3 million people.
The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Central Statistics Agency, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and involved experts and academics in the transportation sector.
Still referring to the results of the same survey, the area that contributed to the largest community movement during Lebaran 2024 was Jabodetabek with 28.43 million people. Then, Central Java was 26.11 million people.
Meanwhile, the most destination areas during Lebaran 2024 were Central Java with 61.6 million people, East Java with 37.6 million people and West Java with 32.1 million people.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi conveyed that based on the survey results, the national movement of people during Lebaran 2024 was 193.6 million people. This figure is an increase compared to the potential movement of people during the 2023 Eid period, namely 123.8 million people.
Budi also said that the results of this survey had been reported to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and had been informed to relevant stakeholders such as ministries/agencies, local governments, Korlantas Polri, BUMN and the private sector.

Furthermore, he admitted that he had taken preparatory steps to anticipate the surge in community movement during the 2024 Eid momentum.
"Looking at the picture of these conditions, we are taking steps to prepare both operationally and in policies in controlling, regulating transportation, and handling comprehensively with the Ministry of Agriculture and institutions agencies at the central government, local governments, BUMN, and private parties," said Budi Karya, in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 12.
Budi said the estimated peak of the homecoming day based on the choice of the community was D-2 or Monday, April 8, 2024 or when the joint leave was started with a potential movement of 26.6 million people or 13.7 percent.
"Meanwhile, the estimated peak of the return day is D+3, namely Sunday, April 14, 2024 with a potential movement of 41 million people or 21.2 percent," he explained.
