Polda Metro Firmly Bans SOTR During Ramadan
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya prohibits the public from holding sahur on the road (SOTR) during Ramadan 1445 Hijri or 2024. This is because these activities have the potential to cause friction between groups that lead to clashes.
"We prohibit various forms of activities that interfere with the smooth implementation of fasting, such as brawls, sahur on the road, illegal racing, lighting firecrackers," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Monday, March 11.
To maintain security during the month of Ramadan, later the police and related agencies will hold routine patrols. Thus, Muslims are comfortable and safe during worship.
"We are ready to secure community activities by increasing the activities of appeals, education, smbang, patrols to law enforcement," he said.
In fact, if you need help, I am in certain circumstances, the public can directly contact the police. So, problems can be resolved immediately.
'Our officers are on the field 24 hours and ready to serve the community. The public can also contact 110 if they need the help of police officers," said Ade.

The government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has set the first day of fasting or the beginning of Ramadan 1445 Hijri falls on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Coumas said this decision was taken after reports of 134 points in various parts of Indonesia that witnessed the hilal.
"The trial on consensus stipulates that 1 Ramadan 1445 Hijri falls on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 AD," Yaqut said in a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian Ministry of Religion's Youtube, Sunday, March 10.
Thus, the public can start performing the first tarawih prayer this year on Monday, March 11 evening.
