All England 2024: Indonesia Sends 11 Representatives
JAKARTA The All England 2024 Tournament will take place this week. There are only 11 Indonesian representatives who appear in the world's oldest badminton event.
This year's All England will take place from Tuesday, March 12 tomorrow to Sunday, March 17 at Utilita Arena Birmingham, England.
To deal with the event, Indonesia sent three representatives from the men's singles, one women's singles representative, four representatives in the men's doubles, one pair of women's doubles, and two pairs of mixed doubles.
Of the singles one of the representatives sent was Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. The bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics became the fifth seed in this tournament and will meet Chia Hao Lee from Chinese Taipei in the first round.
The other two representatives are Jonatan Christie and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, who made the surprise of reaching the semifinals at the French Open last week compared to Jonatan and Anthony.
In the women's singles, Indonesia again relied on Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. Gregoria came as the seventh seed and will meet Yeo Jia Min from Singapore in the first round.
In the men's doubles, the representatives sent were Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.
This number was previously at the French Open, three of which ran aground in the first half. Meanwhile, Fajar/Rian, who passed the round, were only able to reach the quarter-finals.
Just like the singles sector, the women's doubles sector also only sent Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti to All England this year. The pair will start the struggle against India's Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela.
Finally, the two mixed doubles that will represent Indonesia are Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Rehan Naufal/Kusharjanto Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
The couple's journey was immediately tough because they were confronted by the seed in the first half. Dejan/Gloria will meet fifth seed China Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin, while Rehan/Lisa will face eighth seed Hong Kong Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet.
