Bali Police Focus On Security Of Ogoh-ogoh Parade In Denpasar

DENPASAR - The Bali Regional Police focused on securing the ogoh-ogoh parade within the city of Denpasar by deploying thousands of personnel ranging from Polda, Denpasar Police to Polsek ranks.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the route security from Ditlantas personnel would be carried out at certain points around the city of Denpasar, where at that time the people of Denpasar city would usually spill over to watch the ogoh-ogoh parade in order to welcome Nyepi Day in Caka Year 1946.

The Bali Police estimates that the concentration of the people who participate in enlivening the ogoh-ogoh parade will be centered on the Caturmuka Statue roundabout, Puputan Field (Jalan Gajahmada intersection, Surapati Street, Udayana Street and Veteran Street).

The place is a special concern for the security forces because in that place an ogoh-ogoh attraction will be held.

In addition to securing the route, said Jansen, the Bali Police also alerted Brimob troops to join the Ditsamapta, Criminal Investigation Unit and other work units, Field Work Unit (UKL) troops at six locations deemed prone to disturbances to security and social order.

"These six UKLs already have their respective areas of duty and will move quickly if there are problems," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 9.

The Bali Police also prepared a mobile patrol team from Brimob and Samapta troops as well as a combination of other satkers, to carry out mobile patrol duties to prevent disturbances to Kamtibmas around the city of Denpasar.

With this security, the Bali Police hopes that the ogoh-ogoh parade, which will be held on Sunday, March 10, can take place in an orderly, safe and smooth manner.

The police appealed to all youth groups, especially in Denpasar City, who would parade the ogoh-ogoh to remain orderly and in accordance with the applicable awig-awigs.

The same applies to the people of Denpasar City who will attend the ogoh-ogoh parade later, also asked to be orderly and respect each other, and respect.

"The most important thing is that no one consumes alcohol because it is very dangerous," he said.
