Mayor Eri Cahyadi immediately asked for the drains to be cleaned.

He also immediately held a technical meeting with the Head of Public Works for Bina Marga and Pematusan Erna Purnawati along with the heads of sub-districts, and LPMK of Tandes District, and several residents. They together want to solve problems in that place.

"Of course we want to help residents to overcome this, but we must work together and together. This is the time for the government and citizens to join hands in resolving the various problems below", said Eri Cahyadi during the discussion.

Eri hopes that the residents will also support him in the repair plan in that place. Residents are expected to participate, and together build the City of Surabaya.

LPMK and residents who attended the technical meeting immediately agreed and were ready to cooperate with the municipal government in developing their regions. In fact, to ensure that the drains is well connected, Mayor Eri Cahyadi and his staff are tracing the drains.

Eri Cahyadi also walked into the small alleys to trace the drains. He entered the Tandes Kidul 1A alley and continued on foot to the Wide Alley until it reached Jalan Raya Tandes. Right at the entrance of the Wide Alley, he asked for the concrete covering the drain to be opened. Heavy equipment was brought in to open the concrete cover.

Several concrete covers were also opened by the PU Bina Marga Task Force and the DKRTH Task Force. At that time, Mayor Eri Cahyadi immediately saw for himself the conditions under the drains. Armed with a large flashlight, he squatted down several times to see the conditions under the drains.

As a result, he found a drains that was somewhat closed, so he ordered the Public Works Office of Bina Marga to repair it so that water flow in the area would run more smoothly.

"Turns out that was what caused it not to run smoothly, please fix it later", he said.

Furthermore, Eri Cahyadi and his staff also reviewed the drains in the Gadel area, Karangpoh Village, Tandes District, Surabaya. Again, he got out of his official car and walked to monitor the drains in the small alleys. Every time he meets residents, he also asks residents for support in developing the area. "God willing, if we build together, everything will be smoothed out", he said.

The blusukan (unannounced inspections) action was carried out by several regional heads including Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution. The term blusukan became known when Jokowi served as Governor of DKI Jakarta. Jokowi often wears a white shirt and black pants.
