Revision Of The ITE Law, The Review Team Summons Ahmad Dhani, Baiq Nuril To Muanas Al Aidid And Ade Armando

JAKARTA - The review team for the Information and Electronic Transaction Law (UU ITE) invited a number of reported parties and reporters who had been related to this law.

Those who were invited came from various groups such as public figures, lecturers, and journalists.

From the reported party, this study team summoned Baiq Nuril, Saiful Mahdi, Dandhy Dwi Laksono, and Ahmad Dhani Prasetyo, Bintang Emon, Singky Soewadi and Diananta Putra Sumedi. Meanwhile, those reporting were Muannas Al Aidid and Ade Armando.

"Today, according to the schedule agreed upon by the team, we will invite several speakers who come from various backgrounds. They are people who have had experience as reported parties or as reporters in cases related to the ITE law," said the Team Leader of the ITE Law Reviewer, Sugeng Purnomo, as quoted from his written statement, Monday, March 1.

He said this inaugural meeting would be held online. In addition, there will be two sessions.

"In the first session today, invited speakers through virtual channels include Baiq Nuril, Bintang Emon, Dandhy Dwi Laksono, and several others, 8-9 people. Because the number of reported and reporters is quite a lot, it will be continued with the second session tomorrow Tuesday," he said.

Sugeng said that their input would later be accommodated and taken into consideration in conducting studies related to the ITE Law.

"The input and views given by the speakers will later be used as consideration for the team, both for sub-team 1 which will produce a guide, as well as for sub-team 2 which will examine possible revisions," said Sugeng.

Apart from involving several resource persons from various clusters such as reporters and reported parties, activists, practitioners, civil society, academics, the press, and others, this team also opened a hotline.

As previously reported, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has formed a team to study the ITE Law. The team was divided into two, namely Sub-Team I, which formulated implementation criteria for certain articles in the ITE Law which often led to multiple interpretations.

Meanwhile, Sub-Team II will conduct a review of the substance of the ITE Law on several articles in the Law which are considered multiple interpretations to determine whether revisions are necessary.
