PANGKALPINANG - The Pangkalpinang District Court, Bangka Belitung, held hearings against dozens of violators of the COVID-19 health protocol. Violators are sanctioned.

"As of 11.30 a.m. local time, there have been 40 violators of the COVID-19 prokes who have undergone court proceedings and have been sanctioned by the court", said Secretary of the Babylonian COVID-19 Task Force, Mikron Antariksa in Pangkalpinang, quoted by Antara, Monday, March 1.

He said the people who were caught by the trial justice operation in this place were because they did not use masks, kept their distance, and were subjected to social penalties and fines that were adjusted to the level of their guilt.

"We apply layered sanctions to violators of the COVID-19 program, starting with social work, administrative work to fines which have a deterrent effect", said Mikron.

According to him, the on-site trial judicial operations began on Monday, March 1 at 8:30 a.m. until late at night in several points of public space. The goal is to increase public awareness of complying with the COVID-19 program.

"Currently, we are holding it in front of Bank Mandiri, Pangkalpinang Merdeka Square, and have netted dozens of violators of the COVID-19 prokes", he said.

Mikron said that the trial operation in this place was based on Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2020 concerning the application of the new normal in preventing and cutting off the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the level of community compliance in implementing the COVID-19 program is very low, or the fifth lowest in Indonesia.

"We hope that with the on-site court justice operation and giving direct sanctions to violators, it can increase public awareness to always comply with the health program, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, washing hands, and avoiding crowds", he said.
