Emil Dardak Has The Opportunity To Become A Minister In The Transition Cabinet

JAKARTA A political observer from Brawijaya University, Verdy Firmantoro, assessed that the Deputy Governor of East Java for the 2019-2024 period Emil Elestianto Dardak has the opportunity to become a minister in the government cabinet of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Moreover, Emil's position as spokesman for Gibran during the 2024 presidential election campaign also made his name soar in the national political arena. In fact, the chairman of the DPD of the East Java Democratic Party is said to still have the opportunity to enter the cabinet in the midst of the transition period of Jokowi's administration to Prabowo as well as Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

"In the context of position, in terms of collaboration in the cabinet, Emil's chances of entering the cabinet are very open. So the opportunity is actually very open," he said, Sunday, March 3, 2024.

He revealed, there are three things that are considered regarding whether someone deserves to enter the cabinet or not. Namely capacity, collaboration, and coalition map. And Emil is said to fulfill these three things.

"He clearly once had an economic professional, then was the regent of Trenggalek, he was once the deputy governor of East Java. At least the capacity has been tested in public spaces," he said.

In terms of collaboration to test a person who is able to adapt and synergize, Emil also has this potential. As for the coalition map factor, so far the Democrats have helped Prabowo-Gibran win, especially in East Java where the Mataraman area is one of the pockets of the party's votes bearing the Mercy star logo.

"In addition, the entry of AHY shows that the Democrats are truly part of the current government and are transitioning to the next government," he added.

According to Verdy, anything can happen in politics. From the three points above, Emil is considered worthy to become a minister, even in the transition period before the new government after Jokowi. Emil could be included as Deputy Minister (Wamen).

"This means that the extent of Mas Emil's penetration has entered the palace. The second is the penetration of the Democrats to really have a strategic commitment. The third is that there needs to be a good group that really supports Emil and needs to enter the cabinet room," he said.
