Jokowi Inaugurates The Jogja-Solo Commuter Line: All Transportation Must Be Environmental Friendly
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Jogja-Solo electric train (KRL) to replace the Prambanan Ekspres (Prameks).
In his remarks, Jokowi asked that in the future all modes of transportation in the country be environmentally friendly, even if necessary, use electricity as a driving force.
"I think our country's transportation modes in the future should all lead to environmentally friendly mass transportation trains, also all vehicles in the future must be environmentally friendly, namely electricity", Jokowi said in his remarks when inaugurating the Jogja-Solo KRL at Tugu Station, Yogyakarta, as shown on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, Monday, March 1.
KRL Jogja-Solo, said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, is 10 minutes faster than its predecessor. In addition, this electric train is considered efficient and environmentally friendly.
With all these advantages, Jokowi hopes that this electric train can help the mobilization of people and goods from Yogyakarta to Solo or vice versa. "And it can increase tourism and our economy", he said.
While at the same event, the Governor of DI Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X said that the Jogja-Solo KRL is an important thing. This is because many Jogja residents work in Solo or vice versa.
"So that the existence of Prameks or KRL is very important for some people who go back and forth from Jogja to Solo every day, until the afternoon", he said.
He hopes that, in the future, this train service will be better, especially in terms of punctuality. In addition, he also hopes that this KRL will be the right choice for the community.
"Hopefully, the community will feel comfortable with this KRL service", said Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.
It is known that the Jogja-Solo KRL serves 20 trips and stops at eleven stations. This number has increased from Prameks, which only transports and drops passengers at seven stations.
This KRL will stop at Yogyakarta Station, Lempuyangan Station, Maguwo Station, Brambanan Station, Srowot Station, Klaten Station, Ceper Station, Delanggu Station, Gawok Station, Purwosari Station, and Solo Balapan Station with a distance of 59.337 kilometers.
The travel time for the KRL Yogja-Solo trip is currently faster than Prameks. The length of the KRL trip from end to end is recorded at 68 minutes, while Prameks is 75 minutes.
